This ad campaign equaled a propaganda blitz: "The southern cotton mill worker is happy, financially independent, physically well cared for and mentally trained."
Forget the extreme working conditions in the mill, the intolerable heat, the long hours, the production demands...We were better off, according to this article, "than any other single working class" in the country.
Thank heavens we were oblivious kids and not our hard-working parents.
