Mrs. Bryson was born Feb. 2, 1919 in Ellijay, a daughter of the late Ira and Ina Jones Edmondson.
She was a longtime member of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Zachery Sunday School Class. During her life she worked a number of years at Goodyear Mills, ran a neighborhood grocery store, played softball for the Goodyear softball team, and worked alongside her husband Dewey in the Bryson Real Estate Company. She loved and delighted in taking care of her house and her family.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Dewey T. Bryson, Sr., to whom she was married April 10, 1937, her children and their spouses, Faye B. Knight, Ann B. Green and husband Allen and Dewey T. Bryson, Jr. and wife Kathy, her grandchildren, Robert James Knight, Beth Green Ellenberg, Kristen Bryson Summey and husband Phil, Kerry Elizabeth Bryson and Dewey T. Bryson 111, her great grandchildren, Colton Gage Knight, Ashley and Cody Satterfield, Natalie Elisabeth McElrath, Bryson Phillip Summey and Shelly Elizabeth Dunn, her great great grandchildren, Hunter Lee McElrath, Ethan C. McElrath and Madison Elisabeth McElrath, her sister in law, Evelyn Chastain Edmondson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mary Katherine Green, her son in law, John S. Knight, her sisters and brother in laws, Ruby and Leamon Fowler, Winnie and Frank Cornett, Lona and R.T. Hart and Irene and Jim Wallace, and brothers and sister in law, Hughie and Pearl Leatherwood Edmondson and Robert Edmondson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Burch, Rev. Dee Dee Lawson and Rev. Crawford Greeson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Don Cornett, Milton Bryson, O.L. Bryson, Michael Bryson, Ronnie Edmondson and Henry Mullinax.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sam Jones United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday.
